Description Bryan Miller 2005-11-11 19:57:04 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.2)
Installed from: Fedora RPMs
Compiler: gcc-3.4.4-2.fc3 Using standard KDE distribution, was not compiled locally
OS: Linux

Last week I upgraded KDE from 3.3.1-4.3.FC3 to 3.4.2-0.fc3.1 using up2date. Now konqueror will not show previews of jpeg files and kuickshow will not display jpeg files. All other image types seem to be displayed normally. I can view jpegs in kview, gthumb, and gimp. The preview pngs are being created in ~/.thumbnails/normal but they are not being displayed in konqueror. They are also not displayed in certain file selectors, such as when searching for images to use as desktop wallpaper. My version of qt is qt-3.3.4-0.fc3.0. I have played with various konqueror settings but this hasn't helped.

Thanks,
Bryan Miller

I found the problem, it turned out that
CrossOver Office 5.0 was hijacking the jpeg mime types. In the konqueror
File Associations configuration for applications, I removed references to

x-crossover-jpeg
x-crossover-jpg

Now konqueror previews and kuickview working ok.

Thank you! This solved my problem in KDE 3.5 with Crossover Office 5.0...Ugh!
