Hi!
the mail header shows the attachment only AFTER click. (at least for imap)

the attention of the user is already drawn to the message body and as the attachments are located at the end - often after a long disclaimer text - and, at least I, regulary discover the attachments only if I print the mail. (using imap heavily over 2 years now and knowing this matter)

IMHO the attachment icon should also be located near the (fancy) header of the mail. This would also be helpful when reading multi-page mail printouts.

BTW I thougth I was reporting this already, but can not find it any more.
