Description Miquel Torres 2005-10-04 07:53:57 UTC
Version: 1.4.1 (using KDE KDE 3.4.1)
Installed from: Unlisted Binary Package

When importing a pps file Kpresenter shows a popup "Missing export filter" that wrongly says "Could not export file". When you press the OK button, the popup appears again. You can click as many times you won't, the popup comes again and so the app is blocked, and must be killed (so it is not a crash, but just as bad).

An import filter (tricky business) may fail to import a file, but it should never block or crash the whole application.

I don't get the popup with today's svn -- although it says something similar on the command-line, but kpresenter does hang. I'll confirm this bug.

The Kpresenter handbook says that Kpresenter 1.6.3 only attempts to open Microsoft PPS files but sometimes it is not reliable in doing so, depending on the version of the Powerpoint that created them and the content of the files. I also noticed that clicking OK over and over again to get rid of the error message simply coresponds to the number of slides in the presentation. For instance, if there are 15 slides, you will have to click OK fifteen times for the message to go away but after that Kpresenter shows a blank presentation. I am using Gentoo.
