Description Kasper Sandberg 2005-08-03 04:00:05 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.2)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
Compiler: gcc 3.4.4
OS: Linux

i have been using kde remote desktop since it was introduced, and it was quite okay, but in kde 3.4.0 it got some enhancements, and i considered it "really good", it was very fast, however when i upgraded to kde 3.4.1 it became really really slow, the mouse would lag when moving on the host when a remote client is connected, and it is also like that in kde 3.4.2.

I think you may have wanted to file this under KRFB rather than KRDC. Remote hosts don't connect to KRDC; it is not a server. I also know that KRDC has been unmaintained since some time prior to the 3.4 release.
Comment 2 Kasper Sandberg 2005-08-04 06:05:14 UTC
as far as i know, i didnt file it under krdc, however i agree, this is probably a problem with krfb
Comment 3 Thiago Macieira 2005-08-04 13:16:36 UTC
Kasper: it was I who changed the product.
Comment 4 Michael Willig 2005-11-04 10:02:36 UTC
I've upgrade from Suse 9.0(KDE 3.1.4) to Suse 10.0 (KDE 3.4) now krfb eats nearly all cpu (i've seen in ksysguard 22% user, 75% system ressources for krfb).
I use KDE desktop sharing since years but now it is so resource hungry that my hole machine is to slow to work.(e.g. with krfb running kpackage needs 2 mins to start, without krfb it needs seconds)

#4:
yes, this is indeed a big problem :(

i hope it will get resolved, untill then, remote desktop is useless kinda.
