Description Hannes Hauswedell 2005-06-18 12:37:41 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.0)
Installed from: FreeBSD Ports

i would wish for kpackage to have kparts support so that it can be extended to support more packaging systems. e.g. with kuroo(i am not sure if kuroo has kparts ability) one could maybe provide support for gentoo (i read a wish for that in the bugs) and also a proper support for the freebsd ports (and in future [netbsd] pkgsrc and openbsd ports) could be offered using kports' kpart (i currently develop kports); i read that a better support for ports is also wished for somewhere in the buglist.

I suppose it would be possible, I'm not should how it would integrate. My understanding of kparts is that it really just embeds one application in the other.

KPackage was recently removed from KDE SC (since 4.4 beta2) as it was completely broken and unmaintained.

Most of the common GNU/Linux distributions offer their own tools to deal with packages, and KDE is working on an universal package manager replacement named "Shaman" (to superseed KPackageKit)

Closing the KPackage's bug reports as UNMAINTAINED.
