Version:            (using KDE KDE 3.4.0)
Installed from:    Debian testing/unstable Packages
Compiler:          gcc (Debian 1:3.3.6-5) 
OS:                Linux

When I log out of KDE or stop akregator I usually  have all articles marked as read. When I start akregator again (usually on KDE login) all articles are marked as unread - or I can choose to have all articles marked as read.

It would be niced if the state from last session was saved and all read articles was still marked as read and all new articles since last session was marked as unread.

Are absolutely _all_ articles marked as unread after restart? Or just some of them?

As far as I can see, actually no articles are marked as read, whether "Mark all feeds as read on startup" is set or not.

When I click "Fetch all feeds" just after all available articles are shown as unread no matter the above setting.

Actually, that behavior should be the normal one in Akregator.

I am sorry. This problem only occurs when archival of articles is disabled or has insufficient size. I have set article retention to a maximum of 1000 articles and now articles are marked as the last known state.

I've been having the same problem, and didn't realize that the "Disable Archive" would actually disable it COMPLETELY, I guess. :^)  (I simply didn't think I needed to keep 1000 articles around at all times!  10 articles per feed seems sufficient enough!)

It might be nice if it would warn you when you set it to Disable in the settings window.  Something like: "Note: If archiving is disabled, any articles marked as 'Read' will be forgotten when you quit Akregator."  With a checkbox to disable the warning in the future, of course.

I can't believe this is considered "resolved" and is STILL a problem after all this time.  I don't _want_ to archive anything in akregator.  Just remember the state!

Never mind - setting archive to ANY of the available values still makes no difference (aregator 1.2.7, KDE 3.5.8 and Kubuntu 7.10).  Every time I start up, I get 705 new items.
