Description Josh 2005-03-15 15:52:21 UTC
Version: 0.9.2 (using KDE 3.3.2, Gentoo)
Compiler:          gcc version 3.3.5 (Gentoo Linux 3.3.5-r1, ssp-3.3.2-3, pie-8.7.7.1)
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.6.10-gentoo-r5

When someone sends me an ICQ message from ICQ5, kopete will crash every time. I believe this is a new icq program. He just installed it.

* Loaded plugins
Alias, history.

* Backtrace
I don't get a valid backtrace from the crash.

* How to reproduce
Start kopete. Have someone send a message from the ICQ5 client that is downloadable from http://icq.com.

* Expected behavior
Not to crash.

upgrade. crash doesn't happen in Kopete 0.10 (mostly because rich text receiving has been disabled)

Please have a fix backported to the kopete version released with kde 3.3. Distributions are relying on you to support "old" versions as well. The crash might be security related.
Comment 3 Josh 2005-03-19 15:06:51 UTC
That would be nice. I really don't want to have to upgrade kde to 3.4 until it's stable in gentoo.
Comment 4 Marc Haber 2005-03-19 16:24:24 UTC
How about fixing the bug in a version which is actually available for download from kopete.kde.org? Latest version there is 0.9.2. Very funny indeed.
Comment 5 Thiago Macieira 2005-03-19 16:45:05 UTC
I'm sorry, people, but the ICQ/AIM plugin in Kopete 0.9.2 is completely different from the one in 0.10. It was much too buggy and hacky, so it was completely rewritten.

And as often it goes with open source software, we're short on manpower. We cannot support 0.9.2 anymore. We're sorry.

I've disabled RTF messages on KDE_3_3_BRANCH, so use that if you are affected by this bug.
