Description Erik Sperling Johansen 2005-03-04 09:35:33 UTC
Version: 1.8 (using KDE KDE 3.4.0)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux

I'm using serverside filtering to organize mail into folders, and disconnected imap to download these. I've defined filters to mark certain messages as read, and these work perfectly when applying them manually.

If I disable serverside filtering, and new messages arrive in Inbox, everything works. But, if new mail arrives in an imap folder other than Inbox, the filters are not applied. I'm uncertain whether this is by design or not, but an option to enable filtering for incoming mail in either all or specific folders would be great.

3.4 rc1
Confirmed. I think. I used the anti spam wizzard to setup spam filtering with spamassasin and bogofilter. These filters apply automatically only to my disconnected imap "inbox" folder, but not to any subfolders of it.

It's the same situation for me, I have some of my mail filtered into different folders (e.g., mailing lists) on the imap server. It would be very useful to have kmail detect spam there as well.

It's indeed a limitation of the current disconnected IMAP code.
Comment 3 Mats Ahlgren 2007-02-07 13:36:23 UTC
I can confirm that this problem also exists in regular IMAP.

My server automatically puts X-Spam-Flag mail into an IMAP spam subfolder, and my filters (which work normally when applied manually) do not get applied when new unread mail arrives in the spam subfolder.

This bug is still valid for the current KDE version, and actually is the most annoying one for me right now.
I hope this can be addressed

Thank you for your feature request. Kmail1 is currently unmaintained so we are closing all wishes. Please feel free to reopen a feature request for Kmail2 if it has not already been implemented.
Thank you for your understanding.
Comment 11 Luigi Toscano 2012-08-19 00:43:25 UTC
Instead of creating a new feature request, please confirm here if the wishlist is still valid for kmail2.

It is still valid for kmail 5.2.3. Kmail won't apply filters to incoming messages in IMAP folders other than Inbox.
https://mail.kde.org/pipermail/kdepim-users/2017-March/000620.html discusses a bit about the issue.

One implication is that the antispam won't work on IMAP folders either, which is a big problem for people who do all their filtering server-side.
