Description Douglas J Hunley 2005-02-24 15:46:14 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.3.2)
Installed from: Compiled From Sources
Compiler: gcc (GCC) 3.4.3

OS: Linux

I use kontact to manage all my scheduling needs for my business. In the course of business, I interact with clients all over the world and it would be a great help to me to be able to enter a new meeting or appointment using the time zone of the client. I often get a meeting request for say 3:00pm PST or 10:00am GMT and currently I have to convert those times into my time zone by hand to enter them. It would be so nice to just enter them straight into kontact and simply select the timezone that is appropriate and have kontact convert it to my local timezone itself. (In the example above, I would enter 3:00pm and select PST, and it would convert it to 6:00pm EST automatically when I save the meeting).

Reassigning all KOrganizer bug reports and wishes to the newly created
korganizer-devel mailing list.

Douglas: Am I right in understanding that these meeting requests are not machine-generated iCalendar but literal emails of the form "Let's meet at 12.00 GMT" and you'd like to be able to enter meeting requests in this format, in the date selector in KOrganizer?
Comment 3 Will Stephenson 2007-01-27 23:15:55 UTC
Maybe dupe of 140637
Comment 4 Douglas J Hunley 2007-01-28 20:42:49 UTC
they are machine generated, however they are not iCal or vCal. You are correct, I'd like to be able to enter "meeting w/ mgmt @ 9am PST" and have it schedule it locally for noon EST (my timezone). I short, I don't want to do the math myself :)

And yes, 140637 is a dupe of this one (since this one has a lower bug id # <g>)

This is implemented for KDE4.
