If I stop kplato, rm kplatorc, and restart to repeat the sequence that caused the bug, it no longer occurs.
i used to have exactly the same problem but now with kplato 0.9.0 it is resolved using opensuse 11.0, kde unstable 4.4.85
Strange things happends... I can see that the gui (toolbars/menus) are not build correctly, but I haven't yet figured out why. This seems to happen only in the described use case where File->Open is used. Workaround: Use File->New instead.

Crash occurred in v0.9.0, so issue is not yet resolved
(In reply to comment #10) > Crash occurred in v0.9.0, so issue is not yet resolved Matthew, could you give some more details on how you open kplato and maybe test different cases? * Open and empty kplato (with a template): Toolbars ok? * Then use File->Open to open a file: This is the case described in this report. * Open an empty kplato again and use File->New to open a file: I haven't seen a crahs here. * Open a kplato file No crash here either. Does other koffice apps crash for you?
I have run through it all today without issue, not sure why it was not building the toolbar correctly yesterday (I had restarted, opened/closed, etc). So - cannot replicate today.Sorry
This was a known kdelibs issue, since fixed. Closing for that reason. If this can still be reproduced with an up-to-date version feel free to reopen!
