Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.1) Installed from: SuSE RPMs Hi, and first off a big thanks for developing this application! Now the problem: I use a external DVD-RW +/- (BENQ) which successfully burn cd's, but when I try to burn dvd's the device completely disappears and also re-scanning the device (using k3b Setup or k3b configure dialog) don't help to get it back. here are some collected outputs before I started k3b: linux:/home/ra # cdrecord -scanbus Cdrecord-Clone 2.01 (i686-suse-linux) Copyright (C) 1995-2004 Jörg Schilling Note: This version is an unofficial (modified) version Note: and therefore may have bugs that are not present in the original. what do you mean? What does happen? You start dvd burning and then? it fails? and the device is gone? or what? Be specific.
ok, will try to be more specific. I tried to write a data dvd-rw, tried to blank a dvd-rw and tried to copy a dvd-rw but all of that actions failed and afterwards the device (/dev/sr0 and /dev/sg0) is gone. This means - the corresponding dialog opens, but nothing happens for several minutes. After 6 minutes, in my case, another dialog opens telling me that no media was found. The exception here is blanking - detection works faster, but in the end k3b detects a cd-rw instead of a inserted dvd-rw ... Beside of k3b I used some commands generated by qdvdauthor to burn video-dvd-rw which worked fine, e.g. # /usr/bin/cdrecord -dao speed=2 dev=0,0,0 /cap/tmp/qdvd/dvavi/dvd.iso so it seems that this writer might work correctly ? is there another way to validate this? I hope this informations helps you a bit. greetings reinhard
which version of growisofs are you using? and what kind of a drive is that?
hi, ra@linux:/prog/cvs/gst-plugins-bad> growisofs -version * growisofs by <appro@fy.chalmers.se>, version 6.1, front-ending to mkisofs: mkisofs 2.01 (i686-suse-linux) and this is the ATA/ATAPI drive (BenQ DW822A): http://www.benq-eu.com/products/storage/?product=412&page=specifications it is integrated into a external firewire/usb2.0 case from sony. greetings reinhard
did the scsi updates in k3b 0.12.15 help?
